“Unsent” to bengi
I told a lie to slip the chain,
While every night, beneath the rain,
Your ghost stayed long after the dawn.
You held a blade above my head,
A slip away from breaking me,
And though I left, I live in dread
Of secrets never truly free.
You said you’d never cross that line,
But fear rewrites what I believe.
Each day I check the edge of time
To see what you might choose to do.
And though you haven’t sent them yet,
The weight still clings like second skin.
A threat is love’s most cruel regret—
To know you’d win if you gave in.
So here I lie with quiet grace,
My truth half-buried in the lie.
Still hoping you won’t lose your face—
Still scared you will.
Still asking why.
